Indo Gangetic Plain UPSC
The Indo-Gangetic plain is an extensive expanse of level and remarkably fertile terrain located at the northern edge of the Indian subcontinent, stretching from the Himalayan mountains to the Bay of Bengal. Covering nearly 3.75 million square kilometers, this region is continually shaped by sediment deposited by major rivers and their tributaries. Characterized by a gently sloping plateau with a few low-lying hills, the area remains predominantly flat.
